Some Final Notes:
I played the Ys I & II Chronicles+ version of the game from GOG. This version of the game is a remaster of the PSP version of the game titled Ys I & II Chronicles, which itself was a remaster of the 2001 PC version of the game titled Ys I Complete. Ys I Complete in of itself was a remake of the original Ys: Ancient Ys Vanished (or just Ys in Japan). Chronicles+ is almost certainly the definitive version of the game due to a wide spread of graphical options, including the ability to have the traditional border from Complete or the "almost 16:9" from the original Chronicles, and the ability to effectively combine Ys I and Ys II into one game.
